Your Guide To AlUla’s Freshest Summer Fruits And Where To Sample Them

Every summer, AlUla’s oasis comes alive with an abundance of fresh, locally grown fruit. This year, the Summer Fruits Season, running until 22nd July, celebrates the region’s rich agricultural heritage. The season showcases the fruits for which AlUla farms are renowned — including grapes, mangoes, figs and pomegranates — as these crops gradually reach maturity through the careful work of local farmers committed to quality and sustainability.

Throughout the season, visitors can experience these vibrant flavours at AlUla’s restaurants, cafés and farmers’ market, where chefs transform the freshest local produce into memorable dishes, desserts and refreshing beverages.

Here are five popular restaurants and cafés offering a taste of AlUla’s summer fruit-infused meals, desserts and refreshments:

1. Joontos, located within the sustainably built Dar Tantora The House Hotel, serves the Date & Citrus Soufflé, which brings together two of AlUla’s celebrated produce. Other highlights include the Date French Toast with halawa and the Date Waffle. Dates remain central to AlUla’s agricultural identity: the region produces more than 90,000 tonnes of dates each year from more than two million date palm trees, including prized varieties such as Barni, Mabroom, Mashrook, Halwa, Anbara and Majhool. For generations, these palms have sustained life in the oasis, offering shade, nourishment and a connection to the land.

2. At Tama, located at luxury resort Our Habitas AlUla, the restaurant’s Sticky Date Cake offers an indulgent finish to any meal, while the coconut citrus pavlova combines the bright notes of lime sorbet with a vegan meringue and coconut cream. Below the shelter of AlUla’s date palms, more than 200,000 citrus trees flourish within the AlUla Oasis. These groves yield 29 citrus varieties – from lemons and oranges to grapefruit and the torounge, a lemon-pomelo hybrid believed to be the oldest citrus fruit in AlUla.

3. For more contemporary cuisine, Somewhere serves a refined Mehlabiya Date Pudding. The creamy dessert showcases AlUla’s world-famous produce in a refined Middle Eastern-inspired dish, making it an ideal way to experience the destination’s most famous produce.

4. Overlooking AlUla’s lush oasis, Pink Camel Pastry Boutique offers a citrusy pasta, alongside a vegan citrus greens salad, roasted chicken with citrus dressing and a refreshing citrus açai smoothie bowl, providing a light and refreshing dining experience inspired by fresh ingredients.

5. Freshhouse offers visitors a mango overnight oats jar, and salads garnished with fresh mango slices, all showcasing the sweetness of AlUla’s summer fruit season. The café also showcases the destinations famous dates through treats like the protein date pudding, date walnut cake and date granola bar, making it an ideal stop for a refreshing breakfast, snack or a light lunch.
