Almarai’s Head of Sustainability Highlights Company’s Environmental Protection Strategy and 2025 Targets
Abdulaziz Albader, Head of Sustainability at Almarai, participated in a dialogue session entitled “Partnership with the Local Community and the Role of Social Media Platforms in Raising the Contribution of the Local and Regional Community”, which was held as part of the “Environmental Compliance Forum 2024” under the patronage of Eng. Abdulrahman bin Abdulmohsen Al-Fadli, Minister of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, in Riyadh.
During the discussion, Al-Badr elaborated on Almarai’s sustainability strategy, “Doing Better Every Day” which was launched in 2019. Comprising 25 goals with targeted achievements by 2025, the strategy is built on three interconnected pillars and 12 core topics, all essential elements supporting the company’s contribution to creating a more sustainable future.
Al-Badr highlighted that, in line with the sustainability strategy, Almarai has successfully increased the use of electricity from clean energy sources in its management, manufacturing, sales, distribution, and logistics departments to 10%. The target is set to reach 20% by the year 2025.
He further explained that Almarai plays a role in promoting a sustainability culture within the food industry ecosystem. The company transformed its dairy institute into a food industries institute, providing the Kingdom’s food and beverage sector with a trained and qualified national workforce.
