Emir of Jazan Region launches electricity projects at a cost of SR2.3 billion
Jazan 29 Jumada Alakhira 1443 H – 02 January 2022 His Royal Highness Emir of Jazan Prince Mohammad bin Nasser bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud has launched a number of projects which the Saudi Electricity has implemented in the region under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy and the Water and Electricity Regulatory Authority (WERA). The event was attended by Deputy Emir of Jazan Region His Royal Highness Prince Mohammad bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammad. These projects, which were completed in 2021 at a total cost of 2.3 billion riyals, aim to improve the reliability of the electrical grid and to develop services rendered to customers in the Jazan region. They reflect the continued support provided to the electricity sector by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud. The projects were implemented under the direct follow-up and supervision of His Royal Highness Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Minister of Energy and Chairman of WERA Board. The projects focused on strengthening connection to the national grid and establishing four conversion stations in Jazan City and governorates of Sabiya, Beesh and Eldarb. Moreover, distribution networks were replaced and enhanced across the governorates of Jazan, with lengths totaling more than 2,000 kilometers. Saudi Electric Company is currently implementing projects worth 2 billion and 700 million riyals in the Jazan region. From 2015 to 2020, the company completed a number of significant projects in the region, totaling more than 18 billion riyals. One of the key projects is the establishment of Al-Shaqeeq Steam Plant, which recently received the Most Outstanding Project Award across the Kingdom. These projects brought the service to 140,000 customers, helped to improve the reliability of the electrical service by 36% over the past two years in terms of power outages and by 32% in terms of the duration of a power outage. Saudi Electricity Company has recently built a model fishermen port in Al-Shaqeeq City at a total cost exceeding SR22 million, as part of its corporate social responsibility programs in Jazan.
