EPAA Organises Dairy Exhibition 2019
The Environment and Protected Areas Authority’s (EPAA) Children’s Farm organised its 8th Dairy Exhibition – ‘Dairy’s Health Benefits’ – recently. Dairy is beneficial because it contains important nutrients that enable the body to function well. The exhibition, which was aimed at EPAA employees and all segments of society, was organised with the Children’s Farm, Al Dhaid Health Center, Al-Burdy School, Al Maarifa International Private School and Emirates Camel, the UAE’s camel milk and dairy products factory that produces Camelicious.
H.E. Hana Saif Al Suwaidi, EPAA Chairperson, said, “EPAA was keen to organise this exhibition because it helps to educate different segments of society, including primary school students, about the importance of protecting animals that produce milk, about breeding them and taking care of them, and about the ways in which they benefit health and the economy. It also helps to boost people’s awareness about the need for positive actions and behaviours that preserve the environment and conserve natural resources.”
The exhibition highlighted different types of dairy and educated people about the benefits of milk and dairy products in general. It included explanations about the importance of milk and its derivatives and comparisons between mother’s milk and formula – its closest equivalent – and between types of milk and their disadvantages. There were also explanations about past and present practices in the dairy industry and a display of tools used in the past, and the benefits of recycled dairy products.
Mariam Al-Ketbi farm official Added: “The event included participation from Al-Burdy School, a presentation and an introduction to camel milk products, scientific experiments by Al Maarifa International Private School, an educational and cultural activity by Al Dhaid Health Center, a workshop and a recycling corner.
The Dairy Exhibition is an important event in the Children’s Farm’s annual calendar, because it helps to educate people about milk’s importance to humans, especially children, and about the development and changes in the dairy industry.
