KAFD DMC’s Chief Corporate Officer Receives Prestigious CIPS Procurement Pioneers Award
Sultan Alshahrani, the Chief Corporate Office of King Abdullah Financial District Development and Management Company (KAFD DMC), has been awarded the Procurement Pioneers Award, by the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS), in recognition of KAFD DMC becoming one of the first organizations in the Kingdom to obtain the CIPS Procurement Excellence certification and the first to obtain the CIPS Ethics Award.
For his exceptional contributions to procurement and leadership of the company’s procurement management team, Alshahrani was presented with this accolade amidst the dynamic backdrop of the first CIPS Saudi Arabia Procurement & Supply Chain Conference and Awards and the largest conference in the organization’s history. The prestigious award also marks a key moment that exemplifies KAFD’s leadership in the field, setting new industry benchmarks in performance, innovation, and integrity within the procurement field.
KAFD DMC is a wholly owned subsidiary of Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund and oversees the development of the King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD) – a landmark project and a key driver of Riyadh’s economic ambitions. Set in the heart of the capital, KAFD is home to 1.6 million square meters of mixed-use urban development, featuring office, residential, commercial, retail, hospitality, and entertainment venues across five asset classes.
The Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply is a global membership non-profit organization and the world’s largest organization dedicated to upholding excellence in procurement and supply. The CIPS Excellence in Procurement Awards celebrate achievements in procurement and supply as well as the hard work of procurement teams and individuals through a comprehensive assessment of its procurement function. The award not only recognizes Alshahrani’s leadership and efforts to elevate KAFD DMC’s procurement strategy and value creation, but also acknowledges the company’s resilience, vision, and dedication to excellence, innovation, and ethical standards across its operations.
At the same time, the receipt of the award reinforces KAFD DMC’s commitment to upholding ethical standards in procurement, aligning seamlessly with CIPS’ Corporate Code of Ethics. This accreditation reflects KAFD DMC’s efforts to instill a culture of ethical and professional procurement and maintain integrity at all levels.
In response to this remarkable achievement, Sultan Alshahrani, CCO of KAFD DMC, expressed profound gratitude and reflected on the significance of the award: “I would like to thank the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) for recognizing me as a Procurement Pioneer. As an institution, we understand that in the modern business environment, procurement and supply shape the trajectory and resilience of any organization. This has always driven us to pursue excellence in every facet of our operations consistently. It’s great to see our efforts recognized; the award is a true testimony to the collaborative spirit that defines KAFD DMC and a validation of our commitment to pushing the boundaries of what is possible. He added: We see this achievement not only as a pinnacle but as an inspiration to uphold the highest standards as we continue to shape the future of KAFD and contribute to Saudi Vision 2030 goals.
This recognition is another milestone in a tradition of excellence. In 2022, KAFD DMC received CIPS & Excellence in Procurement Awards 2022′, with the procurement team accomplishing this feat in just five months – a distinctive accomplishment benchmarked against the wider industry.
