Red Sea Film Foundation Announces Shortlisted Teams For Fourth Edition Of 48HR Film Challenge
The Red Sea Film Foundation has announced the shortlisted teams for the fourth edition of the 48Hr Film Challenge, which commenced in June 2024. This initiative is in collaboration with the French Consulate General in Jeddah, the French Embassy in Saudi Arabia, and the Alliance Française. The challenge aims to encourage emerging talents to push boundaries in their film projects and discover innovative minds in independent filmmaking.
The shortlisted teams will have the opportunity to participate in workshops and mentorship programs on July 19-20, 2024. These workshops include a film directing workshop led by director Faris Godus, screenwriting and editing workshops conducted by director and screenwriter Amjad Al Rasheed, and a production workshop presented by producer Dima Azar. After completing these enriching workshops, the teams will prepare for the 48-hour challenge on July 26-27, 2024, dedicating their efforts to transform their ideas into films before the deadline. Winners will be announced on September 19, 2024.

- Seamless, led by Lamar Samarkandi
- Westrich, led by Hassan Alradhi
- Nafas, led by Rotana Alsharif
- Maistro, led by Mohamed Abdul Jabbar
- Takween, led by Duaa Aljaroudi
- Papillon, led by Seba Bafil
- July tie, led by Hatun Ali
- The Dreamers, led by Mohamad Alhussini
The French Consulate will host two days of professional workshops in Jeddah and Riyadh for 15 members of the shortlisted teams, featuring experts from France and Saudi Arabia. These workshops will include short film screenings and industry discussions.
The winning teams will be chosen by a jury that includes Egyptian actor Ahmed Malek, Saudi actress Sara Taibah, and French director and screenwriter Claude Mourieras. Winners will be announced on September 19, 2024. The leaders of the winning teams will have a special residency at the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival in France in 2025, organized by the French Consulate in Jeddah. Furthermore, the winning films will be featured at the next edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival in December 2024.
