SMCCU Guests Can Enjoy Artist Quentin Desmit, BEE PROJECT, An Emirati Cafè And More

If you are heading to the SIKKA Art Fair this year and want a taste of genuine Emirati culture for the whole family, be sure to visit SMCCU. The Centre is hosting various activities and an exhibition from 16th – 24th March.

Exhibition by Quentin Desmit: The Wheel of Tolerance – The Wheel of Tolerance celebrates the perfect mix of modern and tradition. Belgian artist Desmit uses iconic landmarks of the city to create star shaped patterns that fit into a wheel. The star is a symbol of guidance, and the artist’s work pinpoints the city of Dubai as the world’s example of tolerance and modernity. Admission free

Istekan Café – Come and enjoy some Emirati red tea, cooked over the coals or try a local board game; take in the atmosphere of the local and traditional café culture. Complimentary tea & Arabic coffee

Calligraphy Workshop – Guests can learn more about the art and history of calligraphy. Mondays and Wednesdays, 7pm (60 mins), 100 AED per person

Dubai Drums – A favorite at SMCCU and ideal for The Year of Tolerance. The energy and harmony of these drumming sessions brings everyone together.  16^th March, weekends and 24^th March, 3-5 sessions a day. Free of charge

BEE PROJECT – For its smaller guests, SMCCU has collaborated with BEE PROJECT, and during SIKKA children can make their own natural honey wax candles. Suitable from 4 years of age onwards Thursdays, 6pm, 7pm, Fridays 5pm, 6pm (45 mins). 25 AED per child

Cultural Q&As (On stage) – “Open Doors, Open Minds” is SMCCU’s policy and all questions – no matter how sensitive – are welcome and answered.  21^st, 22^nd, 23^rd March 7pm, (45 mins). Admission free
