The International Business Women’s Group (IBWG) Abu Dhabi And Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society Sign Memorandum Of Understanding In An Effort To Further Empower Professional Women Across The Region

In a step forward for women across the Middle East, the International Business Women’s Group (IBWG) has formed a formal partnership with the Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society. The new agreement has been created to help both parties progress with their shared aims of supporting and promoting professional women throughout the region.

The partnership, signed in the form of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on April 25 2021, by Zoom meeting, formalises the mutual interaction between the two women-empowerment organisations and strengthens their existing relationship.

The ceremony was attended by both group’s board members, in addition to IBWG’s Ambassadors, and including their male Ambassadors, Mr Ali Al-Janabi, Chairman of Shell Group of Companies – UAE and John McGowan of Global Advocacy & Legal Counsel

The MOU sees both parties agree to work together to expand their business networks, exchange relevant experiences and insights, facilitate joint research programmes, host collaborative events that promote women empowerment, and ultimately work towards boosting women in business initiatives in the GCC region

Speaking about the MOU, IBWG Chairwoman Gulizar Jonian said: “We are delighted and honoured to sign this formal agreement with our friends at the Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society. represented by the President Ahlam Janahi. A bright future lies ahead of us and we look forward to seeing what we can achieve together. The MOU enables us to establish a practical framework of cooperation and advance the roles of our two organisations, together. We will continue to work to develop entrepreneurship skills and professionalism across various fields of business, and of course continue to operate in accordance with the national laws and regulations of the two countries.”

The IBWG of Abu Dhabi was founded in 1994, the group members are friendly, dynamic working professional women from various nationalities and backgrounds, who are keen to network and do business in the region.

More recently, the group fortunately managed to stay dynamic and active during the pandemic, and they continued to host a number of successful networking events and workshops. Recently, the group presented a very well-received panel discussion titled “Redefining health: how to change your mindset”. With the BBC reporting that woman around the world have felt more anxious, depressed and lonely than men during the first year of the pandemic, this was a particularly important and timely subject to address.

Meanwhile, Bahrain Businesswomen’s Society was established in 2000 under the aim of bringing together exceptional Bahraini Leaders. As well as striving to heighten the role of Bahraini women in commercial, economic, investment, and development activities, the society also seeks to establish relationships with similar societies (such as IBWG), throughout the GCC and across the globe.
